World Book Day, Gandalf, and a Surprise Costume Win
This week has been pretty quiet after the snowstorm we had last week, and I’m actually grateful for the calm. The weather has been much more pleasant, with clear skies and a bit of sunshine poking through, which is always a welcome sight. One of the highlights of this week was LP finally getting the chance to wear his Gandalf costume. As you might remember, he was so disappointed when World Book Day was cancelled last week because of the snow. But thankfully, the school rescheduled it, and LP got to wear his much-anticipated outfit on Tuesday. He was absolutely thrilled, and I was surprised to see him wear the entire costume—beard, wig, and all—throughout the day! I didn’t think he’d keep it on, but he did, and he was so pleased with himself when he came out of school still dressed as Gandalf. It was one of those little victories that made my day!
BP’s Cooking Adventures: A Surprising Talent
In other family news, BP has started cooking lessons at school, and I’ve been quite impressed with his progress. Today, he came home with an upside-down pineapple cake that he made during class. Now, you know I’ve been trying to stick to a diet, but I couldn’t resist trying a bite! And let me tell you, it was delicious. BP’s baking skills have definitely surprised me; he’s always been more of a hands-off kid when it comes to cooking, but recently he’s shown a real interest in it. He even made cookies during the half-term break, and they were fantastic. Of course, I have to be careful, as much as I want to support his new hobby, because I can’t let him bake all the time if I’m going to stay on track with my diet. But it’s nice to see him finding joy in something I never expected him to enjoy!
Sunny Days Ahead: A Welcome Break from the Cold
One thing that’s been lifting my spirits is the return of the sun. After what seemed like endless snow and dreary days, it’s such a relief to feel the warmth of the sun again. I can’t wait for the weather to warm up enough that we can spend more time outdoors without having to bundle up in coats, scarves, and gloves. There’s something about the sun’s rays that just lifts the mood, and I’m already dreaming of days spent in the garden, taking long walks, and soaking up the good weather. Let’s just hope it sticks around!
Weight Loss Journey: A Slow but Steady Comeback
As for my weight loss progress, it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster this week. After a few setbacks, I’m happy to report that I’m finally getting back on track. It’s been a bit of a struggle, though, because I’ve been dealing with plantar fasciitis, which is basically a painful heel condition that makes walking difficult. The pain has been tough to manage, especially since I was really enjoying my daily treadmill workouts before the pain set in. But I’ve found a workaround! While I can’t walk as much as I’d like, I’ve been using my exercise bike for 40 minutes a day, and it seems to be helping me keep up my fitness routine. The first few days were rough, but I’m starting to feel like it’s making a difference. I’m hoping I can stick with it and keep building momentum, even if it’s not the exact routine I had planned.
Last night, for example, I spent an hour on my feet cleaning up the kitchen—putting away the dinner plates, loading the dishwasher, and wiping down the counters. While it doesn’t sound like much, my foot really started hurting afterward. It’s frustrating, but I’m learning to listen to my body and find ways to work around the pain. I’m lucky that the exercise bike has become a good substitute for my treadmill, and I’m determined to keep pushing through. Even though my progress isn’t as fast as I’d like, I’m still making progress, and that’s what counts.
A Look Ahead: Plans for the Weekend and Beyond
As we head into the weekend, I’m looking forward to a few relaxing days. After a busy week, I’m hoping to take some time to recharge and spend quality time with the family. I’m sure LP will want to keep wearing his Gandalf costume for a few more days (if I let him!), and BP will probably be baking up a storm. We’re also looking forward to some outdoor activities, as the weather continues to warm up. I’m hoping that by the time Easter rolls around, I’ll have a few more things in place to make the holiday special for the family.
